I've come bearing news! So I researched a bit more after my last extravagantly long post about research that could have possibly led to nothing. However, I found an interesting link that you may want to check out: http://5-ants-games.empresas.info/. So what's important about this link? Everything you've been wondering about. Every Boombang member resigned a bit before the website went down. Boombang Games, SL converged with 5 Ants Games, SL, it makes sense too, they're both in Barcelona! They probably just moved onto bigger and better things, but I've emailed them seeking answers. I have proceeded to email 5 Ants, Alike Studio, and Pati.io to get answers. We all care very much about this game and it's important that they know we're still here, even nearly 1 year later!
It really just turns out that Boombang probably wasn't hijacked but everyone just kind of, disappeared. They all resigned and 3 new people were appointed to the company. Does Luis ring any bells? He is the one who founded and coded the game! Tim was one of the founders. Luis is the coder! This probably means that they in fact are recoding the game if he is still appointed a position in the company. He even coded Tiny Thief. You can click here for some information about Luis and the rest of the Boombang moderators. Anyhow, Tim and Luz will not be any help, so you probably shouldn't even attempt to contact them for answers.
As of now, I am still researching and contacting the appointed managers of 5 Ants Games, SL, which are Luis and Max. They were appointed June 30, 2014. They probably set the website to a loop of the maintenance pages so we wouldn't loose hope. I'm still disappointed that they never updated us though.
Still, I cannot confirm that they still are interested in updating Boombang. They could have sold Boombang after all. I'm sorry, I'm all over the place! But don't loose hope, Tiny Thief was a big hit and they are probably improving Boombang along side Tiny Thief so they don't loose their playerbase and main income. We don't want Boombang to be gone forever, do we?
This being said, I'm hopeful again. According to GameFaqs, 7 days before 5 Ants Games, SL was most recently updated (7/29/14), Football Maniacs Manager was released. On 7/29/14, there was a change of address, where the Boombang office must have switched to the 5 Ants office, which was actually updated the day the game was released, just confirmed on the 29th. I'm not sure what this means, but pull whatever you want from it. Maybe it means they stopped development that day? I'm not sure, but Tiny Thief is on hiatus, so they haven't been updating. So it probably means they are doing some coding on the down low, possibly recoding Boombang. Which I really doubt.
But I did also come across some more information. Around the time 5 Ants disbanded, and 1 week before Luis and Max were appointed the only managers of 5 Ants, they posted their last official Tiny Thief update on their Facebook page. Then I came across this post here. Within this post, it claims that former members of 5 Ants are working with 2 development studios to develop a new game coming this year called "Love You To Bits" (See image above).
So, the only hope we have to hold onto is that they haven't closed the Boombang website down. It seems like they moved onto bigger and better things. Many people resigned from 5 Ants to work on this new game.
I'm actually just writing this as I come across new information, so my view points have been shifting a ton, but my the end of my findings, I'ev concluded that the Boombang team turned into 5 Ants, which have disbanded on July 29, 2014. This is all I have for now, hopefully we will find out more.
This is all I really have right now.
